Marsala- Official Colour of the Year

Pantone have announced the colour of the year….drum roll please

2015/01/img_8430.jpgThis beautifully rich, yet subtle colour just oozes elegance. If it was food…it would be a Galaxy.

The earthiness of this colour can easily be translated into fashion, beauty, interior design and so much more. It can be used as a base colour or an accent colour and will still have the same strong impact.

Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth- Leatrice Eiseman
Executive Director, Pantone Colour Institute®

2015/01/img_8431.jpgThis gorgeous colour can enhance all skin tones and will definitely be the go to colour for all make up artists this year.

2015/01/img_8433.jpgand you can see why…
Pantone have disclosed the perfect colour palettes for Marsala, these two being my personal favourite..

Guestbook Alternatives

To quote Wikipedia,

‘A guestbook (also guest bookvisitor logvisitors’ bookvisitors’ album) is a paper or electronic means for a visitor to acknowledge a visit to a site, physical or web-based, and leave details such as their name, postal or electronic address, and any comments.’

A guestbook, in the context of a wedding, can be absolutely anything! No really… and the more unique it is, the better! I am always in favour of a good book so my vote would normally be there, however some of the following options could make me reconsider!

Most of these lovely creations can be found personalised on Etsy,

Happy Sunday

With a slight obsession with wedding jewels, I have been collating the most gorgeous offbeat and vintage wedding and engagement rings. Enjoy!

This round brilliant diamond is encased in a high polished platinum. This intricately designed vintage basket drenched in subtle diamond accents and trimmings is designed by Ken & Dana and costing roughly 2.5k...but definitely worth it!!

This is a vintage Cartier, which is a popular celebrity collection, date and price unknown. The circular floral setting suggests a 1920-1950 date and is just stunning.

This is a gorgeous alternative to your traditional solitaire. Champagne stone and rose gold, amazing. What is even more amazing is that the diamond is on the underside of the stone for only you and your other half to know about. Such a pretty thought!

This post is solely dedicated to show you beautiful ways everyone can wear them..and make you a firm YES person!

Tikkas can very quickly turn an outfit from lovely to bridal and well, that’s really what we’re going for!

Traditional
The traditional way to wear a tikka is to align to the middle of your forehead and pin back through your hair, here are some very simple tikkas to try and tempt you into wearing one on your big day…

See how pretty they are! They can be made in almost anything these days and can be custom made to match your bridal jewellery!

Recently there has been a trend in wearing 1920’s style headgear, but all ‘asianed’ up..not sure what I mean? Think of The Great Gatsby..minus the feathers and add some gorgeous Kundan rows..

Ok so these aren’t exactly Kundan but therrreee you go! Mental image complete.

There are so many variations to how these can be worn..

There’s the single row

Different Types of Mehndi

A mehndi night is the day a bride gets decorated for her soon be husband, the day she traditionally wears no makeup or jewellery and only has the intricate swirls of henna to make her look like a bride……or as a bride today calls it…a pre wedding party! There are so many different mehndi designs and types out there it is difficult to know what type of mehndi to be asking for!

I want those flowers with the squiggles….is that Arabic or is that Indian? Pakistani maybe?

Well fear not! The Bride Loves is here to help you along your henna filled path.

Arabic Mehndi

Arabic mehndi is one of the most popular designs amongst most culture. It is easy to create, master and duplicate within a short space of time. Arabic designs use very thick lines, and consist mainly of flowers and veins…

Indian Mehndi
Indian mehndi designs are a lot thinner and more detailed than Arabic. They can easily take a few hours to complete and are the most varied, ranging from a large circle in the palm of your hand..

IMG_5182.JPG

(Not sure we’d go for that over here..)

…to complex and intricate bridal mehndi designs.

Pakistani Mehndi
